Last Friday, Meagan Davis and Sasha Eberding from Year 5, travelled to Woolgoolga PS to participate in the regional Expo Day for eGATS (electronic Gifted and Talented Students). This is the second year Bellingen PS has had students included in eGATS. This initiative has run over the last term with selected students from across the whole North Coast Region taking part. Sasha and Meagan went through a rigorous selection process before being accepted to participate in this innovative online program. They were linked to a teacher mentor who was able to assist them to work through several set tasks around the theme of ‘Puzzles' as well as providing guidance as they worked on their individual projects which were presented on Friday. Meagan chose the puzzling topic of "Animal Migration" and Sasha puzzled over "Is our intelligence enough to save us from extinction?" The depth of knowledge and diversity of presentations and topics from the 44 participants across Years 5 – 8 was huge and a credit to these gifted and talented students.
Meagan and Sasha were excellent representatives for Bellingen Public School. Their full school uniform, beautiful manners, clear presentations and research were commented on by representatives of other schools. Congratulations Sasha and Meagan!
