Congratulations to James Van Dam who was selected for the NSW PSSA North Coast Rugby League team. After spending the weekend at Lake Ainsworth, getting up before dawn for some very intensive training, he went down to Gosford where some of the heaviest rain and even water spouts saturated the field. This meant training on the Monday was cancelled, robbing our players of precious time to get to know each other better. They then spent the next 3 days competing against the best NSW had to offer in what can only be described as David V's Golliath matches. This caught a few of them a bit by surprise and resulted in defeat for both games on Tuesday. However, they came back with a vengence on the Wednesday, winning both matches with James scoring the winning try in one of them. This gave them a real shot at the semi finals. In fact it was so close we didn't find out till Thursday morning that they just missed out by only 4 points in the final tally of tries scored for and against. The final game was the most outstanding game of football, even the commentator announcing it as such, as the North Coast team scored a try from the back of the field. As usual James conducted himself in a way that any parent and school he represented, would be immensely proud both on and off the field, as did the the rest of the team.
