Thirteen of our year 5 students and our two Captains, Tom and Meg, were involved in the Bellinger Dorrigo Learning Community Student Leadership Training day last Wednesday. They joined around 80 students from 8 primary schools and Dorrigo High School to participate in a range of activities highlighting the qualities and roles of great leaders. The 2010 leaders and year 12 high school students acted as group leaders and facilitators on the day. Activities promoted cooperation, communication, confidence, connection, courage and conflict resolution. The students also heard from two guest speakers – Esther Henderson, outgoing school captain of Bellingen High School and Mayor Mark Troy. They both spoke about their leadership roles and the qualities a leader needs to make a difference. This is the first of many opportunities which will be provided for the prospective 2011 students leaders across the Bellingen Dorrigo Learning Community.
