On Thursday, 10 students from years 4-6 competed in a PSSA Basketball tournament in Coffs Harbour. The young men had trained hard leading into the competition building skills and their basketball knowledge. With a team full of first time basketball players the day was about experiencing a new game and learning new skills.
Our first game was against defending North Coast champions Narranga, which saw the boys competing against Mr Britton's new team. Our boys competed well but Narranga's experience from playing together each weekend prevailed taking a strong win. The boys showed a few encouraging signs and were looking forward to their next challenge against Sawtell Primary School. The boys played well and were within 10 points at half-time. In the second the boys continued to challenge Sawtell but unfortunately couldn't close gap.
The day was a great experience for the students and they will continue to develop their skills. With 9 of the students being in years 4 and 5 the team will be looking forward to next year. Thank you to the boys and to Allan for helping on the day. Ryan Swift
